Yarthung - the festival of horse race

 YARTHUNG-THE FESTIVAL OF HORSE RACE

Yarthung is an annual horse festival that takes place over four days in July to August before harvest. The young men of the village dressed in traditional (chuba) race their horses on a flat stretch of land below the upper village, cheered on by all the spectators. After the races and trotting displays are finished the young women ride with the men to a cave above the village where they gather and pray at the stupa.

Sad to say but these days Gorkhalis have been rulling over Manang..Thugh the population of our people are decreasing each and every day but our Tradition and culture is still alive and people here celebrate every festival together happily. Yurtung Festival ( Horse Race)..which is celebrated every year in Manang.People from every corner of village gather at Cherkyung.Everyone shows there own talent and skills of riding Horses. I request every neyshangs to show some love towards their village and do visit motherland atleast once.THANK YOU.- Kanta Gurung

STICKFOODS

My friend Pema ranged me up few days ago & planned to meet to have some stick food. The first name came to my mind was Chinese stick (R.S CHINESE FOOD SERVICE )when it comes to stickfoods .We went there,While we were searching nice place to sit suddenly, met my dear sister baby (dolma )and his price charming Romi talked with them for while and went back to our own  seats . We ordered some alu fry. mushroom fry ,tofu fry , sausage, chowmein and meat ball. The food here is spicy and tasty (oily too) .

I suggest following foods if you ever drop by this food place :

  • Mushroom fry
  • Sausage (any like chicken/buff)
  • Tofu fry
  • Salami
  • Chowmein
  • Momo

I suggest not to eat meatballs and burgers .They are not so fresh and it's dry.

travel 1: MANAKAMANA - Gorkha

My sister told me about the temple MANAKAMANA and its stories.listning to her stories,  I planned to go there as nobody was interested so, I went alone  on Saturday (7th June 2014) as it was holiday from my work. I took a micro from here to KURINTAR (a place where the cable car is established) and it took me about three hours to reach . I jumped off the micro and it was raining like hell, went to a small shop asked for plastic and kept my camera ,phone & earphone inside it .I went down the hill asked for the tickets ( it cost rs 499 per person and rs 66 for tax )and the worst part came. I had to wait on queue to get on cable car (my turn was at 4998 ) and waited almost 5 hours. It was raining, it was hot & people were fighting for their places. I was waiting on queue hungry as I had only eaten noodles (wai wai )

After 5 hours of struggle in queue my turn came, got inside with 5 strangers. As i am  afraid of heights, they were laughing at me looking at my afraid face . That moment  was awkward when a small boy said to me "yo dai ta kati daraudo raicha hehe ". I just smiled back to all of them .Than I was finally out relief from cable car. I went to the temple prayed for while & took some photos .

I was returning down to cable car many guys asked me for lunch and I did ignored them . Then i saw a guy who could rap very fast telling about the food on the menu, that attracted me and I eat my late lunch there. i heard that there was queue to go down the hill too,so ran fast and got on the queue . Just after I reached there about 500 people came behind me on line . I was on line  almost an  hour & my turn came to go down .Again afraid of those heights the people around were laughing but I ignored them .Caught a micro a came back home reached finally at 9 pm .

The tour was hectic and was awesome and new experience to travel alone
ps. Don't go to Manakamana at Saturdays.
Manakamana cable car .
There were 5000 people and queue was almost 5 hours

Finally I could see this cable car so near after hours and hours wait
